GREETINGS FROM THE CRHS ORCHESTRA
Email greeting from Mr. Nelsen on February 16th.
Dear Prospective parent and student
On behalf of the 170 plus members of the Cinco Ranch High School Orchestra Program, we want to welcome you to the Cinco Ranch High School Orchestra Program. We can’t just select random people from the hallway to play violin, viola, cello or bass. String players are the most important people on campus to us. Whether or not a future career path includes music, colleges seek out students that have made classes, like orchestra, an integral part of their curriculum throughout their four years of high school.
I enjoyed meeting the eighth grade students last month. I am excited about their enthusiasm and their energy, and I hope the opportunity presents itself so I may introduce myself to you personally. Several updates since my earlier visit are included below, but first, I invite you to our Spring Concert on Thursday, March 1, 2012. We have two concerts that night. Two string orchestras will perform at the concert beginning at 7:00 pm, and the Symphony Orchestra performs at 8:00 pm. We hope that you can stay for both concerts.
The orchestra program has an outstanding web site at www.crhsorchestra.org. There one can learn more about our orchestra family, find links to several arts organizations, and businesses, and read about some common questions about the orchestra program. Please check our auditions page on the website for more information.
Please keep these important dates for next year:
- Students from Cinco Ranch Junior High will audition the afternoon of May 4, 2012, 3-6:00pm.
- Students from Beck Junior High will audition the morning of May 5, 2012, 9:00am-12:00pm
- We host the following events during the summer:
- A summer picnic is held in late June or early July. (it’s free!)
- We host an Orchestra camp in August. Either August 5-8 or August 12-15.
This event is an additional fee of $40. - You are invited to attend our Freshman Breakfast on the Friday morning that follows our Orchestra Camp.
Please email me directly if you have any questions or need help with making orchestra fit into the four year high school plan. Finally, I hope that you are as excited to join our growing orchestra family as we are excited to share the next four years with us.
Best wishes for the remainder of your Eighth Grade Year.
Brett Nelsen

Uniforms
Please do not cut the material on a uniform when having alterations done. You may fold the material, but not cut it. Also, when you have the article of clothing altered, please be sure that you wear shoes to mark the correct hem length. Alterations may be done at home or any dry cleaning site or tailor. Some jackets may need to have the sleeves lengthened or shortened, and the same with pants.
General guidelines about uniforms are in the Handbook in Charms (Page 8), or Click Here, or they can be obtained via the Resources page.
